Web Design Introduction

Learn Web Design in this newly updated Four Credit Course at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities Minneapolis Campus.

In this class you will learn the Web design process by mastering the four phase process of site development: plan, design, launch, and publish. Learn industry standard Web design software including Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Animate to build your own Website. Also get a firm foundation in HTML5 and CSS3. In addition the course covers design basics, color theory and resolution. The course also includes an introduction to Bootstrap to create mobile friendly websites.

Create a personal site for your resume, artistic or design portfolio, family business, campus organization, hobby or other useful website. Host the site on a free web server or move it to a permanent location with your own URL.

The class includes lectures, exercises and lab time in a hands-on class. No prerequisites or previous experience required. Classes are held in Active Learning Classrooms. These state of the art classrooms are designed as examples of the University's new classrooms of the future. You will need your own laptop computer for the class. You will receive a free PDF textbook for the class text. Class tutorials available online as videos.
